1st Great Final Pica Lletres

Last 16 June the Great Final of Pica Lletres (Spelling bee) was held at the Poliorama Theatre, Barcelona.

24 contestants, representing 8 schools from all around Catalonia, took part in this vibrating great final, presented by Lluís Gavaldà, singer of the band Els Pets.
The winner, Jan Palomeras from SES Collbató school, received the prize from the Councillor of Culture and Media, Joan Manuel Tresserras. The prize consisted of a laptop computer for him and €3,000 for his class.

All along the course, more than 800 3rd-ESO students (9th grade) have taken part in Pica Lletres (Spelling bee) in diverse local TV networks all around Catalonia. Now, the winners of every zone have competed to win the title of National Champion of word-spelling in Catalan.

The finalists were representatives of the following schools: Col•legi La Salle from La Seu d’Urgell, Escola Pia from Olot, IES Almenar (Lleida), IES Joan Guinjoan i Gispert from Riudoms, IES Miquel Bosch i Jover from Artés, Col•legi Sant Marc de Sarrià (Barcelona), IES Les Planes from Santa Bàrbara (Terres de l’Ebre) and the SES Collbató. The qualifying rounds were broadcasted in Localia TV, Canal Blau Vilanova, 9 Televisió from Vic, Lleida TV, Pirineus TV, Olot TV and Canal Reus TV.
